From Springwise we came across a nifty bunch of enterprising eco warriors in the Netherlands, who claim to have set up a completely carbon neutral outdoor advertising alternative. GreenGraffiti uses a template and a high pressure water sprayer to 'clean' an advertising message out of dirt. The result is a high impact message and a clean street!

The business does not currently operate in Australia - and given water restrictions it might be a difficult business to get off the ground locally... but then again, there's always recycled or grey water? And we're guessing for a crew who power their website by 'wind and sun' that the advertising templates are fully recyclable?

Have you ever watched the runoff from handheld high-pressure water sprayguns? The actual amount of water is only a few litres per minute, the cleaning power is all in the muzzle velocity. In a pinch, they could always adapt air-abrasion or sandblasting techniques.
Also, check out the work of Paul Curtis, aka. Moose, one of the pioneers of 'reverse graffiti.' (link)
Better late then never I guess you could say. We do use recyclable templates though the one shown here is not. We have switched to new materials that are much better for the environment. We also offset our water use by investing in a water harvesting project in Brazil that will produce one liter of clean drinking water for each water we use. We are always striving to improve.
