We've often credited TheCoolHunter.net as the inspiration for some of our blogposts, and now we're giving a shoutout to the site itself.
What started as a column in a newspaper, the site is now one of the most read lifestyle and culture sites on the web, scouting and sharing all things 'cool' - from architecture, to music, to fashion, to art, to travel, to advertising, to lifestyle products and more. It's a design junkies playground.
Australian Bill Tikos is the founder of the website, and in the nifty video profile about The Cool Hunter on the Top Line Living channel on theage.com.au, he claims to have every magazine editor around the world on his subscription database, and visiting the site regularly.
If you have anything cool you think the hunters should know about, tell them here.
The site and weekly emails have contain large, strong visual images which makes the content exciting and intoxicating. It's very easy to kill a lunch hour hunting around this site and sending cool stuff on to friends... trust me on that one...
In 2007 the site was the winner of Webblog Awards Best Culture Blog, and currently connects with over 550,000 readers monthly, generating over 1.4 million page views. Tikos has licensed versions of the site to Turkey, USA, UK, New Zealand, Italy, China and Japan, and the list continues to grow.
The site offers advertising, and online store selling cool stuff, and now a 'platinum' consultancy on all things cool for product launches and development, creative campaigns, corporate events and brand strategy.
The hunters have also started another site dear-god.net: a new concept of spirituality where people from all over the planet reveal their innermost hopes and fears in the form of prayers to god.
Closely following will be the launch of a new website 'Fashionation'.
All sounds very hot, hot, hot to us.
